Gloucestershire 2024

In the early autumn of 2024, I walked on a short pilgrimage in Gloucestershire and the Bristol area. My particular aim was to visit sites associated with William Tyndale, who spent his early life in this area. However, having started out at Gloucester Cathedral and returning there just over a week later, my walk me not only through two busy cites but also along the wooded hills of the Cotswolds and the banks of the great River Severn, with its world-renowned tidal bore.

The places of worship I came across were very varied too, ranging from ancient parish churches to great cathedrals and from welcoming free church buildings to the chapel of historic alms houses in a local town. Along the way, I was also able to enjoy two church coffee mornings, several midweek Communion services, an afternoon prayer meeting and a lovely Harvest celebration in a village in the Bristol area. Overall, a very encouraging pilgrimage and all quite close to home!
